Fling Chune FRIDAY: Lift Up Your Head

*sigh* Praise the Lord for another Friday!  This week took forever to drag by for me, even though Monday was a holiday.  The coming weeks are gonna feel even longer...  Things have been weighing heavily on my mind lately and I'm just feeling like an emotional casserole.

The local economy has been taking hits in the past several months and a serious body blow was dropped a few days ago.  Uncertainty looms in the air and even though I know that God has everything under control, it's inevitable that things will get worse before they get better.  Sumthin's gotta give.

Despite all the tension in the air, I was recently ushered back to the mid-90s when I heard particular song.  I recall loving the sound of it upon first listen but it's only now that the lyrics are sinking in.  It just got real.  Above and beyond the vocal prowess of Everton Blender blending--pun definitely intended--into the live brass instrumentals and a ferocious bass line, this chune speaks of upliftment... and I'm hearing it loud and clear.

Fling Chune FRIDAY: Deep Meditation

Happy Friday, all! This week culminates with crappy news for me: a salary cut of 8%. Apparently our government is on the verge of financial meltdown and it was either across-the-board slashed salaries for 'everyone', or over 1,000 employees would have been dismissed. I'm wondering, how bad could a government shut-down really be?? Anybody from Minnesota wanna chime in?

Anyway, this definitely gives me a lot more than usual to think about so this chune absolutely must be flung today. However, Sherwin Gardner's rootsy track, Deep Meditation, guides my mind towards the Lord--Jehovah Jireh, the provider of all my needs according to His riches in glory!

Have a blessed weekend, all!
